December 2, 2007
Dear Parents,
Our next rotation cycle began today! During this rotation, your 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader will rotate between three workshops (Art, Science and Cooking) that will help them learn and experience the story of the Magi visiting the Christ child. They will learn ways that Christians all around the world prepare for and celebrate the birth of God’s Son, Jesus. The Bible verses for the lessons are Matthew 2:1-12. Please remind your child to bring their Bible to class each week, if possible. Also, I encourage you to talk with your child about what they did in class each week. What did your child like or dislike about the activity they did? What did they learn from class?
The following is a schedule of where your child should go for the next three weeks:

Grade 2 – Art (rm. 308) December 23rd

We hope you’ll make it a point to come and support our children as they lead worship and present the Christmas program at 10:30am on December 16th! During this service, the children will be collecting a special offering of baby goods to be donated to BABES, Inc (a local child abuse prevention program). The program’s greatest need is for smaller sized diapers. Also, there are many family-fun activities planned for Advent this year. Please check your newsletter or the church website for information about those. We hope you can join in some of the fun!
I have just started planning the classroom schedules for Spring (Jan 6 – May 18), and I NEED YOUR HELP! Our Sunday school classes are fun, loving and caring places for your children to learn about the stories of Jesus and the love of God. In order for the program to remain so wonderful, however, we need parents to participate as leaders and assistants. Please contact me ASAP to sign up and help with your child’s program!
As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you might have (jgeurts@appfumc.org or 734-2677 ext 317). I look forward to working with you all!
Thank you and Merry Christmas,
Jill Geurts
