The Mission Statement of the Youth Ministries here at First United Methodist Church is as follows:
We exist to equip Youth with the tools and experiences so that they may live every day as authentic followers of Jesus Christ.
Our Core Values are 1. Love God 2. Love Others 3. Share Christ.
We embody these core values in the building of a community in which opportunities are offered for our Youth to wrestle with and ask the tough questions of what it takes to be an authentic follower of Christ in today's world, and offer opportunities to experience God in powerful and life-changing ways. This might take place in weekly Youth group meetings, fellowship events, retreats, local mission, or summer mission trips.
We are always looking for dedicated Adult Leaders who love God and love Youth!

Youth Group (Grades 6-12)
Weekly Youth Group meetings take place in the Youth Lounge on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:45 pm. Activities include fellowship and a challenging message. Following large group meeting, Students are divided into the following classes: 6th & 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th - 12th grades.
Quarterly Fellowship events are planned throughout the year and include: Lock-Ins, Fantastical Balloon Wonderment, Weekend Retreats, Concerts, and much more.
Is a two year journey (8th and 9th Grades) held Wednesday evenings (during Youth Group) beginning in October and concluding in April. We believe that Confirmation is the continuation of one's faith journey (a journey begun at baptism) and the beginning of one's covenant relationship with the church -- not an end unto itself. Confirmation is more than just a series of classes. Confirmands must be fully engaged in the life of the church through worship, service, and involvement in other ministries. Our hope is that Confirmands emerge from their Confirmation experience prepared for a life of Christian discipleship. To this end, we offer an opportunity for Youth to make a personal decision to confirm the baptismal vows their parents took for them and become a member of the First United Methodist Church. Our classes will focus on helping Youth gain an understanding of the history and beliefs of United Methodism, develop a critical thought process on questions of faith, and the ability to articulate their faith to their peers. We use the Credo curriculum. Confirmation Sunday Worship will be April 23, 2017 at 10:30 a.m..
Quarterly Mission Blasts (a 2-3 Hour local project) are scheduled throughout the year and give Youth the opportunity to serve their congregation and the community. Events include: Jeremiah's Crossing, Raking Acts of Kindness, Operation Christmas Child, Souper Bowl of Caring, College Cookie Bake/Care Packages, Lenten Pancake Breakfast, and more.
Summer Mission Trips. We offer our Youth the opportunity to serve in a week-long mission trip through Youthworks.
